PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is the most chemically inert hose material in common industrial use. Nothing sticks to it, almost nothing attacks it, and it runs from cryogenic temperatures to 260°C continuous. The trade-off is mechanical: bare PTFE is limp, so it is reinforced with stainless steel braid and terminated with specially designed fittings.
Smooth Bore vs Convoluted
Smooth bore PTFE hose has a continuous, non-porous inner tube — the best choice where hygiene, low pressure drop and easy cleaning matter (pharma, food, high-purity chemicals). Convoluted (corrugated) PTFE hose is more flexible with a tighter bend radius, at the cost of a textured bore that can hold product.
SAE 100R14
The governing standard for PTFE hose with stainless steel reinforcement is SAE 100R14. It defines bore sizes, working pressures and bend radii so that hoses from different manufacturers are interchangeable in the same applications.
